Teaching rooms

You can book a teaching room for non-teaching purposes via the Timetabling Office.

Academic staff must make any changes to teaching room bookings via their school’s timetabling administrator.

Catering for meetings/events

Kent Hospitality operates a delivered catering service to offices and meeting rooms on Canterbury and Medway campuses.

Ordering equipment and furniture

It is now possible for departments to work directly with companies and independently process orders through the approved suppliers.

Second-hand furniture

We encourage departments to sign-up to the furniture reuse scheme, Warp-It

This service enables you to claim second-hand furniture from other departments on campus and/or list unwanted items for colleagues to collect.

Telephones

Requests for new extensions, alterations to existing extensions and Direct Dialing In (DDI) facilities should be made initially to your departmental cost code manager. 

Applications for new phone lines and office moves should be made at least two weeks in advance.

Completed forms should be submitted to the Telephone Exchange.

Removals and disposals

Recyclables

The Estates Logistics team can help with collection of certain recyclable materials.

Campus moves

The Logistics team carries out small moves around campus.

For larger moves, usually three or more people, we have three approved removals firms.

Harrow Green or Function should be used for smaller moves of up to 20 people. 

For larger "project" moves where there are more than 20 people moving, both Minters of Deal and Function will need to be contacted to provide quotes.

Building defects should be reported through our online defect report or by phoning the Estates Helpdesk on ext 3209.

The Estates Department has a team of carpenters, builders and painters to provide maintenance assistance with:

  • bespoke joinery/carpentry jobs
  • door, window and lock repairs
  • building, electrical and mechanical maintenance
  • room refurbishments
  • flooring
  • art exhibitions (planning/installing)
  • brick/blockwork (wall repairs)
  • plastering
  • tiling
  • painting.

Electrical maintenance

The electrical team can help with jobs including:

  • reinstating lost power
  • repairing internal and external lights
  • testing/repairing electrical appliances.

Internal/external mail

Our Postal Services team is responsible for the internal mail system and Post Room. 

Staff can buy postage stamps and post personal mail and packages at the Postal Services offices, on the corner of Giles Lane and Park Wood Road on Canterbury campus. The counter is open from 12.00-14.00 Monday to Friday.
